My Garage Pro® has no suction. What should I check?

1. First, see if the hose is connected to the Suction Inlet rather than the Blower Outlet. If it’s not, insert it into the Suction Inlet (pictured below). Note: if the hose is connected to the Suction Inlet, air will still blow out of the Blower Outlet.

2. Next, remove the hose from the Suction Inlet. Turn the vacuum on and check for suction at the Suction Inlet. If there is suction here, there’s likely a clog in the hose. See our “how to clear clogs” FAQ for details. If there’s no suction at the Suction Inlet, go on to step 3.

3. If there’s no suction at the Suction Inlet, see if the yellow LED light (pictured below) is on. This can mean that the dirt tank is full or that air flow is restricted by a clog.  Emptying the dirt tank or look for a clog and see if the light turns off and suction returns. If it doesn’t, go on to the next step.

4. Check if the dirt tank properly installed. Correctly position the upper and lower portions and secure them into place. Make sure the latches on both sides of the vacuum are hooked correctly into the upper portion and the handles are locked in the downward position, as seen below.

5. See if the filters are dirty. The filters should be cleaned every 15-30 days, depending on usage. Follow these steps to clean them:

a) Unplug the vacuum from the electrical outlet and remove the dirt tank by pulling up on both handles to unlatch.

b) The primary filter is found inside the top portion of the vacuum. It’s a soft cloth-like material. Pull the black tab out to remove (see picture below).

c) To clean the filter, shake it over a trash can to release any loose debris. Use a damp cloth to wipe the inside and outside of the filter. Thoroughly air-dry prior to replacing.

d) To replace the Primary Filter, hold one edge of the filter, collapse it, and snap it into place. Insert tab-side first, collapse the opposite side, and press downward to properly reinsert the Primary Filter.

e) The secondary filter is located above the primary filter. It’s a flat, round white filter. To remove the Secondary Filter, grab an edge of the filter and pull the filter out. Shake the filter over a trash bin to remove any loose debris. Rinse filter with warm water, and let completely dry prior to replacing.
