My PROdry® has low to no suction. What should I do?

Answer:

Start here if you have suction at the hose, but not at the floor. If you have suction at the floor but not at the hose, scroll down for the troubleshooting you need.

1. First, make sure the collection tank is empty.

2. Check that the collection tank is seated correctly on the base of the unit.

3. Make sure the collection tank plug (pictured below) is in place and not damaged.

4. Is the diverter dial at the proper setting?  Make sure the dial is set to floor cleaning (it will lock into place).

5. Check the motor duct in the base (pictured below) for suction, see image below. If there is suction here, go on to step 6. If there’s no suction here, please take your ProDry® to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://canada.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers or by calling 1-800-263-2535, available 24 hours a day.

6. Unplug the machine and check the suction path around the roller for debris.  Check the suction path behind the roller for debris.  If there is debris blocking this area, use a cotton swab to clean it.

7. Check the suction path on the top of the tank (behind the handle) for debris.  This area can be cleaned removing the diverter knob and running water through both ends of the suction path.  To remove the diverter dial, twist and pull it until it comes out.  Remove any debris that may be lodged in the diverter knob.

8. Replace the tank and turn the unit on to check the float flap door. The float flap door is red plastic inside the tank. Does the door close prematurely (without water at the “Tank Full” line)? If so, you’ll need to replace the tank. You can do so by clicking here: http://canada.bissell.com/collection-tank-assembly-2037204?productid=8350

Start here if you have suction at the floor but not at the hose:

1. First, make sure the collection tank is empty.

2. Check that the collection tank is seated correctly on the base of the unit.

3. Make sure the handle is locked in its upright position.

4. Make sure the collection tank plug (pictured below) is in place and not damaged.

5. Is the diverter dial at the proper setting?  Make sure the dial is set to floor cleaning (it will lock into place).

6. Check the motor duct in the base (pictured below) for suction, see image below. If there is suction here, go on to step 7. If there’s no suction here, please take your ProDry® to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://canada.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers or by calling 1-800-263-2535, available 24 hours a day.

7. Unplug the machine and check the rear cover gasket (see images below) to make sure it is in place and not damaged. Make sure there is no gap between the rear cover gasket and the lower portion of the handle.  If there is a gap, push the handle all the way forward to close the gap.

8. Try removing the tool and checking for suction at the end of the hose. If there is suction at the end of the hose without the tool attached, the tool may be clogged.  Run hot water through the tool or soak the tool to dislodge any debris that may be clogging it. If there’s no suction with the tool removed, try cleaning the spray tip (a black knob under the hose) with a paperclip.

9. If you still don’t have suction, please take your ProDry® to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clickinghttp://canada.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers or by calling 1-800-263-2535, available 24 hours a day.
