My PurePro® has no power. What should I do?

Answer:

1. Unplug the vacuum and check the entire length of the power cord and the plug to see if it’s damaged.  Run the palm of your hand down the entire length of the cord and feel for any edges.  The cord should be smooth all the way down.  If the cord is damaged, please take your vacuum to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://canada.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers or by calling 1-800-263-2535, available 24 hours a day.

2. Make sure cord is plugged in to a working outlet. Try another appliance in the outlet or try a different outlet just to double check.

3. Make sure both the power and brush buttons are turned on in the “l” position.

4. Check the Pre- and Post-Motor Filters for debris. Dirty filters can restrict airflow. There’s a circular disk inside the hole attached to the dirt container locking lever. Also, the circular filter inside the filter cup (below the dirt container) has two parts: an outer foam filter and the larger inner filter. All these pre-motor filters may be hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent. In the upper tank, there’s a plastic piece covered in louvers (thin slats) that can also be rinsed off. Reinstall the filters when they are completely dry. If you don’t regularly maintain the filters, the buildup could damage the motor. Please note: the pleated post-motor filter is not washable.

5. If the vacuum overheats, a protection feature of the PurePro is a Thermal Protector, which turns the vacuum off automatically. If you think the vacuum stopped due to the Thermal Protector, unplug the machine, wait 30 minutes for the Thermal Protector to reset, then plug the vacuum back in, and turn it on.

6. Check for clogs. See our “Clearing clogs” FAQ for details.

7. If you still don’t have power, please take your vacuum to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://canada.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers or by calling 1-800-263-2535, available 24 hours a day.
