1. Unplug the vacuum and check the entire length of the power cord and the plug to see if it’s damaged. Run the palm of your hand down the entire length of the cord and feel for any edges. The cord should be smooth all the way down. If the cord is damaged, please take your vacuum to a technician. You can find your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center by clicking http://canada.bissell.com/support/product-support/service-centers or by calling 1-800-263-2535, available 24 hours a day.
2. Make sure cord is plugged in to a working outlet. Try another appliance in the outlet or try a different outlet just to double check.
3. Check the Pre- and Post-Motor Filters for debris. Dirty filters can restrict airflow. There’s a circular disk inside the hole attached to the dirt container locking lever. Also, the circular filter inside the filter cup (below the dirt container) has two parts: an outer foam filter and the larger inner filter. All these pre-motor filters may be hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent. In the upper tank, there’s a plastic piece covered in louvers (thin slats) that can also be rinsed off. Reinstall the filters when they are completely dry. If you don’t regularly maintain the filters, the buildup could damage the motor. Please note: the pleated post-motor filter is not washable.
4. If you still have no power, at this point you should take your vacuum to an Authorized Service Center. See the above link to find one near you.
