5 Valentine Gift Ideas that Pay it Forward for Pets
Of the $18.6 billion spent annually on Valentine’s Day, $815 million will be spent on pets, according to the National Retail Federation. Rightfully so! February 14th is the one day per year you can spoil Fido and Fifi with gifts such as an “I <3 My Pet” desktop frame and not think twice about doing so!
As you sniff out gift ideas for your furry Valentine, why not consider toys or treats that donate to animal causes when you make a purchase. Check out these gift ideas that “paw it forward”….
Cloud Star produces a wide variety of wholesome and natural dog treats, grooming products and Wag More Bark Less merchandise, all manufactured in the U.S. They donate from their proceeds to non-profit organizations benefiting animals, women, children and the environment. Olivia, my 9 year-old black and white “upstairs cat”, recommends the Grain Free Buddy Biscuits for Cats.
Earth Heart offers a variety of aromatherapy options for your dog – from mists that calm your dog from daily stressors to mists that help when a dog may have issues with allergens in the environment. Earth Heart donates a percentage of the proceeds of many sales to a variety of pet charities. Chilly, my 4 year-old Lab Dalmatian mix likes Canine Calm because he loves long car rides to see relatives, and it helps him stay “chill” for extended hours on the road.
PetSafe, a leader in the development of innovative pet behavior, containment, and lifestyle products and services, believes in supporting communities and the pets in them! Their philanthropic contributions range from the ASPCA Relocation Initiative to their Bark for Your Park competition. PetSafe offers your pet a wide selection of fun, safe and smart gifts. Chilly is asking for the Quick Fit Pet Door so that he can enter and exit my office at his leisure (he gets impatient waiting for me to stop working to let him in or out).
Modern Cat Studio chooses a different cat-related charity to receive 5% of each month’s the gross sales. Their products are sold at many locations, including their Etsy store, and are stuffed with organic catnip and polyfill for extra kick. Turtle, my tortoise shell kitty, aka “downstairs cat”, pounces for the Bamboleos - Re-purposed Wine Cork Cat Toys with Organic Catnip.
Dura Doggie designs chewable toys for dogs with 20% of the profits going toward the different causes their customers are most passionate about: pink toys go towards Breast Cancer, blue toys donate to animals, green toys donate to the planet and orange toys donate towards diabetes. Chilly fancies himself a certified canine ball toy expert, and he gives four paws up to the Nebo dog toy because it’s made in the USA and is eco-friendly—plus you can dispense treats from it!
