Urine Trouble: How to remove pet pee from carpets

Urine Trouble

Winter is still in full effect, which means both you and your pet are spending more time indoors. Frigid temps mean more cuddles by the fire, but also mean accidents become more common when your pet finds it’s too chilly to ‘go’ outside. But not to worry, this common stain can be easily tackled if you stick to the tips below.

Buster had an accident … how do I clean it up?
For wet stains, first, take a dry rag and blot up as much of the urine as you can. Then, use a carpet cleaning machine like the BISSELL SpotBot, paired with a cleaning solution like the BISSELL 2X Pet Stain & Odor Carpet Formula. Finally, let your carpet dry using a fan to blow air directly across the carpet.

When should I clean it?
As quickly as possible! If you leave urine stains untreated, you run the risk of urine salts bleaching spots in carpet dyes, so it’s best to tackle it ASAP instead of waiting.

Is it safe to let Buster back on the carpet once I’m done?
Yes! BISSELL products are water-based, but let them dry thoroughly before you let him back in the living room. This prevents him from tracking dirt or odors onto the damp, clean carpet.
