We’re less than a week away from Earth Day. The holiday started nearly 50 years ago as a way to get people thinking about how they can help care for the environment. Today, as more and more people try to be environmentally conscious, we wanted to remind you that BISSELL has developed products with the environment in mind for quite some time. And now, more than 30 of our formulas proudly display the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice Label. This label guarantees the product you’re using not only performs well, but is also safer for human health and the environment. To earn the label, the EPA reviews every ingredient to make sure it complies with the Safer Choice Standard, which has very stringent human health and environmental criteria, so earning the label is no easy feat.
Just like we make our products environmentally friendly, there are ways you can make your cleaning routine environmentally friendly, too. You may even find after reading this that you’re already incorporating some of these concepts into how you clean! And if not, hopefully you’ll find that introducing these methods is simple.
The Power of Steam
Steam is a natural, chemical-free cleaning option that when used as directed cleans better, easier and faster than the traditional mop and bucket. We sell several steam mops and handheld steam cleaners that use water to clean. They’re safe around kids and pets and are great if anyone in your home has asthma or allergies. Many of our steam mops, like PowerFresh® Slim, eliminate 99.9% of germs and bacteria* while cleaning with the microfiber mop pads. Some of our steam mops also convert into handheld steamers so you can clean so much more than just sealed hard floors. They’re also safe on ceiling fans, sliding door tracks, showers, sinks, counters, microwaves, pet toys, upholstery, and kids’ toys just to name a few. And we have scented discs that slip right into the washable mop pads, giving whatever room you’re cleaning a fresh scent as you steam clean.
Back when Earth Day started, air quality was becoming a big concern, and today, it’s an even bigger deal. That’s why we developed air400, our indoor air purifier. It gives air quality readings in real time and circulates the air in a 400 sq. ft. room up to three times an hour when on max mode. There are other ways to purify the air inside your home, too. And there’s science to prove it. Back in 1989, NASA discovered several common house plants and activated carbon plant filters can help improve indoor air quality. So, go ahead and buy that Mother-in-Law’s Tongue plant, knowing it won’t just perk up your space, but it also helps you do your part to take care of our planet, not just on Earth Day, but every day!
