Does your vacuum have low or no suction? Here’s some tips to get back to cleaning.
Check dirt cup to see if it is empty.
Check the inner and outer circular filters and the post-motor filter for debris. Also check the upper-tank louvers –Can we use a different word? Upper tank assembly, as they may need to be rinsed. If rinsed, please allow to air dry completely before putting back into the machine. Dirty filters can restrict airflow. The filters may be hand washed in warm water with mild detergent; reinstall filters when they are completely dry.
Check for GOOD suction at the end of the upholstery hose. If there is good suction at the end of the hose you may have a clog in the lower hose – refer to the removing clog video.
A. Make sure the hose is firmly connected to the lower hose on back of vacuum.
B. If not, Unplug and check to see if the brush is turning?_ If not… open the access plate & remove brush and belt to check for damage. If brush will not turn by hand, or belt is broken, replace the damaged part. Visit www.bissell.com
C. Is the lower hose clogged? Remove the screw from the left side of the lower hose on back of the unit and straighten this section of hose by pulling it down or lay unit out flat
D. Flip the unit over. Look through the hose for obstructions. Push a broomstick through the lower hose to unclog.
If no suction at the end of the upholstery hose… Check for suction at the back of unit after removing the hose where it attaches to the back of the vacuum (twist to the left to remove hose). If there isn’t good suction at the end of the hose run a broomstick through the hose to remove any obstruction. Then see if you have suction.
If yes there is suction at the back of the unit… Check the hose for cracks or holes, if none, the upholstery hose is probably clogged. Detach the hose from the machine. Push a broomstick into the hose to push any obstruction through the end of the hose.
If no suction at the back of the unit… Check area on the inside of the unit for suction without removing the filter. If there is suction, it would indicate that the hose is clogged or filters are dirty.
If still no suction, please take the unit to an Authorized Service Center to have a Quality Technician inspect the unit.
