How to clean Lipstick using the Home Remedy method

  1. Before cleaning: test for colorfastness on hidden area. If carpet color is affected do not use this product. On upholstery, look for a manufacturer’s cleanability code tag. Use on fabrics coded “WS” or “W”. If coded “X” or “S”, do not use. Do not use on velvet, silk, vinyl or leather upholstery.
  2. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a clean cloth. Blot the stain using a small brush, sponge, or cloth using light strokes from the edges of the stain to the center. When you reach the center of the stain, lightly pinch in an upward motion. Do not rub the stain.
  3. Repeat as needed and then thoroughly rinse and blot the area. Allow to dry.
  4. If stain persists, apply a small amount of mineral spirits to a clean cloth. Blot the stain using a small brush, sponge, or cloth using light strokes from the edges of the stain to the center. When you reach the center of the stain, lightly pinch in an upward motion. Do not rub the stain.
  5. Repeat as needed and then thoroughly rinse and blot the area. Allow to dry.

 
Some stubborn stains won't come out even with your best efforts. In such cases you may have to call a professional carpet cleaner. They will have special tools that help them remove difficult stains, and they can even repair damaged carpets.
